Our Standards
Greeneville & Co Verified is a curated list of local businesses that meet our high standards so you can hire with confidence. Every business on it has been checked by a person against the requirements below, and has to keep meeting them to stay.
Vendor Requirements
- Licensed (if applicable) — Required only where the trade or the job calls for a license, and then confirmed against the issuing authority's own records. Tennessee only requires a contractor license at $25,000 and above, and Greene County has no home improvement license — so many legitimate trades here hold none, and we say so on the listing rather than implying otherwise.
- Insured (when the work requires it) — Where a trade or a job calls for liability insurance, we want the actual certificate, checked for coverage dates — not a claim on a form.
- At least 5 Google reviews — A real, public track record before a vendor ever joins. We read them ourselves, and anyone can read the same ones.
- Stay active to remain on the list — Credentials current, reviews coming in, and the business still operating. Our nightly check flags anything that lapses.
What Membership Buys
Approved vendors pay a flat membership, monthly or yearly. It buys one thing: a place on this list. There are no Gold, Platinum or Premium packages, no upgrades, and nothing a vendor can pay for that moves them higher.
Position is driven by reviews. Do good work, treat people right, earn great reviews — that is the whole formula. For homeowners, GC Verified is free to use.
Not Everyone Gets In
We turn businesses down, and we remove businesses that stop meeting the standard or collect repeated unresolved complaints. That is the whole point — a list that never says no is worth nothing to the homeowner reading it.
Meeting the standard is not the same as us endorsing the work. The seal records what we checked and when.
